There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that highlights many luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
